Innovative Twin-Screw Extrusion Technology for Efficient Foil Shred Recycling
Effective strategies for managing challenging recycling materials
Recycling plastic through melting and re-extrusion is an established approach usually done on an industrial scale. Using scaled-down extruders for polymer recycling research in laboratories or pilot plants also works with hard-to-handle materials like shredded plastic foils and low-density plastic fibers. This helps save time and money and in addition, the process parameters found at the lab scale can be used for scale-up to production throughput.
This application note describes how small-scale twin-screw extruders, with their excellent dispersive and distributive mixing, can be used to investigate recycling solutions economically.
