To assess its business impact, Aberdeen conducted a survey of the social collaboration practices of 629 organizations, from August through October 2013.
Enterprise Social Collaboration (ESC) uses social media and Next-Generation Communications technologies (integrated voice, mobile, video, instant messaging / chat, and presence) to foster increased teamwork and knowledge sharing, for the purpose of improving business outcomes. Purveyors of enterprise social collaboration technology solutions often use 'soft metrics' to describe their product's intangible benefits, with concrete business returns typically projected to appear in the ever-advancing future. In part due to Aberdeen's research in this area, the business value of a well-executed Enterprise Social Collaboration initiative is no longer so elusive.
