  • Increased Engagement: When practice was assigned regularly by chapter, students demonstrated higher focus. Only 6.8% of practice attempts were off-task compared to 40.3% under less structured conditions.
  • Improved Performance: Students achieved a statistically significant 2% increase in exam scores. Gains were most notable among lower-performing students, many of whom improved from a C to a B or higher.
  • Replication of the Doer Effect: For the first time, AI-generated questions were shown to activate the Doer Effect, confirming their capacity to enhance learning outcomes at scale.

Implications:
AI-enabled tools can reduce the cost and effort of manual question creation while supporting a wider range of learners. When designed with learning science principles, they offer a reliable way to extend proven pedagogical practices across diverse educational contexts.
